Blackjack has long been one of the most popular card games in the world. While this game can seem simple when you first hear the rules, the level of strategy in this popular card competition can be much higher than people realise.

This card game is believed to have originated in France during the 1700’s, though some historians argue that those as early as the Romans also played a game following a similar format and rules. What is for sure, though, is that King Louis XV enjoyed having this game played in his Royal Court.

Over the last couple of hundred years, this game has spread throughout the world, with countries like the US embracing everything blackjack has to offer. Even through times of gambling prohibition, people have still flocked to tables to sink their teeth into this deceptively simple game.

Some people are able to make a living out of this game, while others will simply play it for fun. Here at Slots-777, we have worked extremely hard to provide a range of free casino games including many version of Blackjack that are designed to meet the needs of different players.

What Are The Rules?

Unlike other competitive card games, you’re not trying to beat the other players at the table. Instead, you are going to be working to beat the dealer, with each player taking it in turns to have the opportunity to win.

There will always be a dealer and a pack of 52 cards in a game of Blackjack, though there can be more than one player and even additional decks to make up the numbers in larger games. Other than this, the rules for this game are quite simple

At the start of the game, the dealer will give each player two cards. The player will look at their cards before deciding whether they want to stick with what they have, get an additional card, or bust and drop out of the round. Each player will be aiming to have cards worth 21 in their hand; a 10 and a picture card (King, Queen, Jack) is the perfect hand to receive.

If a player doesn’t have 21, they will have to choose to keep their hand or get an additional card. This can be extremely risky, especially if you are very close to 21 already. If a player ends up with more than 21, they are automatically out or “bust”.

At the end of each round, the player with the closest to 21 will be the winner, though this doesn’t have to be one person. While you are predominantly playing against the dealer, you will automatically lose if other players have cards closer to 21 than you do.

This game can be played just for fun or with bets, with an opportunity to place a bet each round once you’ve seen your first cards. Here at Slots-777, we offer a wide range of different Blackjack games, giving you an opportunity to try them all out for yourself.

Blackjack

Developer: Playson

Bet Range: £1 to £50

Skill Level: BeginnerModerate

This version of Blackjack is identical to the game found in casinos across the world. Multiple players can join each game, but everyone will be working to ultimately beat the dealer. The aim is to have a hand that is higher than the dealer’s without going over 21. Betting is easy in this game, with options to place 1:1 bets, 1:2 bets, custom bets, or reset the bets you’ve placed each hand.

Like a regular game of Blackjack, this game will start with the dealer giving each player two random cards, including themselves. These cards will all be placed face down, with the exception of one of the dealers cards. You can choose to hold at any point, taking you out of the round and leaving you with half of the money you placed in bets.

Free online Blackjack Classic

Developer: Net Entertainment

Skill Level: BeginnerModerate

Blackjack Classic is similar to the Blackjack option from Playson, though Net Entertainment have put their own twist on this game that gives it extra appeal to many players. Much like a regular game of blackjack, the dealer must always draw when they have cards with a face value lower than 16 and stick when they have 17 or more.

This game offers security for players, with an insurance system in place that ensures that you always get money back from your bets when you decide to fold. You can draw up to 5 additional cards as you go through each round of this game, and there are 5 rounds in each game, giving you plenty of playtime for your money.

Blackjack Low

Developer: Playson

Bet Range: £0.10 to £5

Skill Level: BeginnerModerate

As its name suggests, Blackjack Low is a low-stakes option for those who don’t want to bet high amounts. This game works in the same way as Playson’s other Blackjack titles, but you will be restricted to a maximum bet of £5 when you play this game. This limit ensures that new players don’t get overwhelmed when they are first getting into Blackjack, while also giving you access to a game that can be played casually.

While you won’t be able to win a fortune playing a game like this, it can be nice to enjoy a game with lower stakes when you want to hone your skills or get into a new game. Blackjack Low follows the same beautiful design of Playson’s other poker options.

Blackjack High

Developer: Playson

Bet Range: £50 to £500

Skill Level: ModerateExpert

Much like Blackjack Low, Blackjack High follows the same format as Playson’s basic Blackjack game, only the stakes are much higher. With a minimum bet of £50 and a maximum of £500, you have to be a serious player to take this sort of game on. While the bets may be higher, this game still includes the insurance features found in Playson’s other games, enabling you to save yourself from heavy losses if you make the decision to bust.

Single Deck Blackjack

Developer: Net Entertainment

Skill Level: BeginnerModerate

Casinos will usually use between 4 and 8 decks of cards for a game of Blackjack. This helps to prevent card counting, making it harder to make predictions about the hand that you will get. Net Entertainment have long been a pioneer of Single Deck Blackjack with their online games, and this entry is no exception.

Using a single deck makes the game of Blackjack a lot different, with much tighter limits on the amounts of each card available at any given time. This game gives you a practice run to get used to this, with regular betting continuing once this is done. Much like the other blackjack games in our selection, you can bust and receive a 2 – 1 payout on your bets thanks to the insurance system in place.

Blackjack Professional Series

Developer: Net Entertainment

Bet Range: £0.01 – £5

Skill Level: BeginnerModerate

Blackjack Professional Series is an easy option for both Blackjack newcomers and veterans alike. You can choose to play 1, 2, or three hands each game, with the option to place a side bet at the start of the game. This side bet enables players to win up to 100x their initial bet when they are able to pull Double Jacks. This makes this low-stakes game have incredible earning potential, while still providing you with a comfortable environment for your games.

Pontoon Professional Series

Developer: Net Entertainment

Bet Range: Varied

Skill Level: BeginnerExpert

Pontoon is a British version of American Blackjack, with rules that have been adapted and changed across the pond. In this game, players cannot stand any 2 cards in the deck and have to twist if their cards have a face value of 14 or over. This makes this game a little more complicated, but it also increases the satisfaction when you win.

The Pontoon Professional Series has been designed with every type of player in mind. You can choose to play high or low bet games, along with a professional version for those who have more experience. Whatever you choose, this game will provide fun and exciting throughout each session.

Double Exposure

Developer: Net Entertainment

Bet Range: FreeMedium

Skill Level: BeginnerModerate

Double Exposure is another popular Blackjack variant from Net Entertainment. This version of online blackjack is available to both those placing real bets and those playing for free, with games consisting of both types of player. Not only does this enable free players to enjoy a game with real stakes, but it also means that those that pay for real bets will have the chance to enjoy large payouts.

Deal or No Deal Blackjack

Deal or No Deal is one of the most popular game shows of all time, with different versions of this show found across the world. Combining this game with Blackjack, Deal or No Deal Blackjack is the perfect reimagining of two global hits. It may take some time to learn how to play this version of Blackjack, as the rules are different to those found in normal games. This only raises the stakes and gives you more to play for, though.

Multihand Blackjack

Developer: BGAMING

Bet Range: £1 – £100

Skill Level: ModerateExpert

Games like Blackjack can feel a little slow when you have a lot of experience. This version of Multihand Blackjack turns this on its head, spreading your bets between multiple hands and giving you a lot more to play for. Expert players will feel particularly at home, balancing their bets and hands to make sure that they get the best results from each round. While this game has a low bet range, it will take some skill to be able to play it effectively.

Blackjack Surrender

Developer: Net Entertainment

Bet Range: £1 – £500

Skill Level: BeginnerExpert

Blackjack Surrender is more complex than the other Blackjack options in our selection. Allowing you to play up to 5 hands at once, balancing your bets and ensuring that you are playing to win will be more challenging than playing with a single hand. Unlike normal Blackjack, players can’t split their hands when they are playing this game, but can surrender and get back half of their stake when the dealer checks for blackjack.

Classic Blackjack

Developer: Red Tiger

Bet Range: £1 – £5000

Skill Level: Beginner – Expert

Classic Blackjack by Red Tiger follows standard Blackjack rules, making the game similar to other options in our collection. With a maximum bet of £5000, though, you can set the stakes very high when you are playing this game. One of the key draws of Red Tiger games is their quality and pleasing appearance. This game comes equipped with a beautiful red table and ambient audio that will make you feel like you’re sitting in a real casino.

American Blackjack

Developer: Pragmatic Play

Bet Range: £1 – £100

Skill Level: BeginnerModerate

American Blackjack from Pragmatic Play is an extremely popular option for both those getting into Blackjack and those who have been playing it for years. Standard Blackjack rules apply when playing this game, but this option stands out because of the live dealers available at each online table. Enthusiastic and ready to help you out, these dealers more than make up for the slightly lower stream quality of this game.

Getting Better At Online Blackjack

Much like playing Blackjack in real life, the key to success in this game isn’t random. You have to take risks, make difficult decisions, and spend time learning if you’re going to find success with games like these. Thankfully, though, there are some easy ways to improve your skills that can be invaluable down the line.

  • Watch Games: Watching games of Blackjack play out can be one of the best ways to learn about this activity. Not only will this enable you to view the rules from an outside perspective, but it will also give you the chance to see what other players do with their hands. You can find Blackjack games online, on television, and on most betting websites.
  • Practice For Free: Few things are worse than making a small mistake that costs a fortune when you are gambling on a game like Blackjack. This makes it worth making mistakes like this in free games, followed by using the lessons you learn to find success in paid ones. Slots-777 offers a range of Blackjack games that can be played for free or on a trial basis.
  • Learning: Watching and playing games aren’t the only ways to learn about Blackjack. The web is filled with excellent resources that can give you a deep insight into games like this, ensuring that you always have a good understanding of the titles you decide to play. It can take some time to develop the skills you need, but this will be worth it once you find success.
  • SelfAssessment: Each of the Blackjack games you play is an opportunity to learn and improve, but you have to know how to assess your skills to make the most of this. It’s always worth making a note of your mistakes and successes, giving you the chance to lean into the methods that give you the best luck.

It’s always worth keeping in mind that Blackjack does have a random element to it. Even those who have practiced those skills for decades often find games that don’t go their way, but you shouldn’t let this sort of issue drive you away from the game. Rewards are best when you have to take a risk to get them.
