Overview Wild Flower

Wild Flower created by Big Time Gaming is a Red Riding Hood themed slot with a bit more of an edge than the original fairy tale. The two protagonists in this story are the intimidating purple wolf and the Red-Hooded lady, who seems to have grown up somewhat from the little girl we are all used to in the children’s story.

Accompanying this strange take on a classic tale is a rock n roll soundtrack that wouldn’t feel out of place on a Guns and Roses themed game. Quite peculiar indeed. The whole presentation from the background to the symbols gives the impression of a hallucinogenic trip to the occult where strange mystical icons mix with multi-coloured images.
Whatever you think of the theme, you can’t begrudge this game for not having enough bonus content. Wild Flower has a large range of features including special wilds which come with multipliers and multiple free spins rounds which come with two playing options, one of which offers players multipliers up to 800x their stake.
If all this wasn’t exciting enough, the max win for this slot is a mind-boggling 114,100x your total stake. And unlike some games which offer sky-high top prizes but terrible return to player percentages, the RTP has been kept at a respectable 96.59%.

Theme and Symbols

Although at its heart this game is based on the innocent fairy tale of Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, Big Time Gaming has taken a gothic approach to this slot. Everything on the screen looks like it was designed by the same person who produced the Grateful Dead Album covers. The aesthetics seem to have been inspired by a strange mix of pagan ritualistic ceremonies and 70s Metal bands.

Looking at the background, players are met with a wilderness dominated by snowy forest. However, because of the influence of the northern lights, the night sky and the snow which reflect it is coloured in an eerie mix of green, blue and purple. Directly above the playing window is a full moon which has been enlarged for dramatic effect, no doubt as a symbol of the wolf’s dominion. At the top right-hand side of the board is the game’s logo which looks like an Iron Maiden title.
The board is made of solid metal and shines brightly in response to the abundant moonlight being deposited on it from above. The metal one assumes is a nod to the Guns part of the Guns and Roses feel that this game tries to be weaving into this complicated visual narrative.

The symbols are a combination of card suits and colorful symbols. The lowest paying symbol is the turquoise 9 which pays out 0.5x your stake for 6 on a pay line. Above that in terms of the low-paying symbols are 10, J, Q, K and A. Up from these are the Green Star, the Blue Paw and finally the Red Riding Hood women and the Wolf. The Wolf is the most valuable symbol, paying out 10x your stake for 6 on a pay line. The wild is the heart symbol and the scatter is the Wolf and Red Riding Hood stood next to each other.

Features

As mentioned in the introduction, there is plenty of bonus content to enjoy for Wild Flower. These include two types of free spins rounds.

The first free spins round is regarded by the game as the ‘normal’ free spins round. To trigger this feature players must land 3 or more of the scatter symbols on the reels at the same time anywhere on the reels. Having done this, the game will give you a brace of free spins options to choose from. The first is called ‘The Most Beautiful Thing’ round.

For this round, players are given 7 free spins. Before the spins start, however, 1 of the royal symbols will be selected at random to be the special symbol for the round. Every time that this symbol lands during this feature it will transform into a wild and will freeze in place for the duration of the spins. If a reel is filled with wilds, 4 more free spins are awarded to the player.
The other option is the ‘Heart Beats Faster’ spins, this gives you 12 free spins. When a wild is part of a win in these free spins, the next following wild to land will have an increased multiplier attached to it. There is a total of 12 different multipliers which can appear in this option of the free spins. These multipliers can end up climbing as high as 800x. The multipliers also do not reset for the duration of the feature. This is how players come to that amazing 114,100 x stake top win. This is what the game calls the ‘Mega feature’.

You can also top up your free spins in this round by landing additional scatters in sets of 3 or more.
The next set of free spins, called the ‘Enhanced Free Spins’ are triggered by landing a Megascatter on reel 6 from within the previous free spins round. Doing so, you will again be asked if you want to play the ‘Enhanced The Most Beautiful Thing’ spins or the ‘Enhanced Heart Beats Faster’ spins feature.

The Enhanced The Most Beautiful Thing spins offer 7 free spins. However, in this version whenever a sticky wild lands on an existing wild, it transforms that symbol into a 2x sticky wild. And so on to 3x, 4x etc. Landing 5 reactions will earn you another 2 free spins. Each reaction beyond that threshold earns you 1 more spin.

The Enhanced Heart Beats Faster spins grant you 12 free spins. If a wild is part of a win the next wild that lands have increased multipliers attached. The wild once again has 12 sets of multipliers to work through on the Multiplier Ladder. Landing more reactions will give you more spins.

Conclusion

Although the theme takes a little getting used to, the game itself is very rewarding, especially when players enter the potentially super lucrative free spins rounds. The chance to win that unbelievable 114,100 x stake will galvanise plenty of gamers too.
