Introducing Micro Knights

Although cluster pays genre is not something you would usually find with slots from ELK Studios, they have chosen Micro Knights to launch them into this style of gaming. If you are familiar with the titles Snake Arena’s from Relax Gaming and Treasure Heroes from Rabcat you will immediately see that this slot has the same feel when it comes to playing the game.

If you choose to play Micro Knights on your mobile you will immediately see that the slot looks like a smartphone game that could have come from iTunes or Google Play. The intricate details are very small and whilst you will not notice this when in portrait mode it becomes obvious when viewing in landscape as the grid also shrinks and provides more of the countryside views that surround the screen.

Playing the Game

Micro Knights plays out using a 7x7 grid with 49 symbols which fall into place after every spin, the slot also uses the cluster pays system which means that when you match five or more of the same symbols adjacently on your reels you will then be awarded with a prize. When you land a win, the winning symbols are removed with new ones falling into the spaces.

The cluster pays system is common and can result in continuous wins and with this slot it is this system that pulls the many features into play too.
The first thing you need to do when you are ready is to place your bet, with a range that starts from just 20p to a maximum of £100 per spin which will appeal to most players. The lower paying symbols include water wells, meat on the bone, mushrooms and arrow targets.

When it comes to the higher paying symbols you can expect to see bunnies, bulls, frogs and goats. The bull is the best paying symbol and if you land 20 or more of the bull symbols in a cluster you will be rewarded with 250x your stake. The wild in Micro Knight is the gold chalice and it can replace all the other symbols apart from the bonus symbol to create winning combinations.

Win after Win

Micro Knights is a slot where you can gather win after win, and these are the highlight of this slot, but to make this happen you need to activate as many of the features as you can. The initial spins may appear confusing however, if you are au fait with games such as Reactoonz you will get the hang of things in no time.

The feature that you will come across the most will be the Queue, and this is the most difficult to try and convey. On the left of your reels you will see the Charging Knight who will run across your grid at random pushing off a row and the row then moves under the grid as the symbols form a queue. All of the matching symbols group together, for example if you have landed two clusters of three bunnies on the grid, and there are two bunnies next in the queue the bunnies from the queue drop onto each cluster on the grid to create winning combinations in this example you would benefit from two lots of bunny wins.

Gameplay

Once the symbols are removed from the queue the next line comes into play if possible, with fresh spins removing all the symbols from the queue. Situated at the top left of your grid is the Smashing Knight symbol and he also plays at random and he will increase each symbol in the queue by one. As well as the cluster pays there is also a win meter which you can locate at the right of your grid and the meter moves along and once full it activates one of the feature flags. The first flag is Inferno, and this sees a dragon set light and remove all the lower paying symbols from your grid.

The next flag is the extra wilds and randomly rewards 3 – 15 wilds on your grid, this is then followed by the super-size flag where large sized symbols up to 4x4 high falls onto your grid. Charge is the next feature flag and moves between two and five rows of symbols into the queue whereas the Epic charge moves all the symbols to the queue. Finally, there is the boosted queue, and this uses every symbol in the queue to create winning combinations. The meter continues to award features and fill you provided clusters are being formed. In the base game the meter resets with every new spin.
The bonus game is the final feature on offer in this slot and this is activated when there are three bonus symbols in view on your grid. The bonus game awards five free spins and the queue and win meter are sticky therefore do not reset after every spin.

Final Thoughts

The chances are that Micro Knights will offer something that makes you think about other slots as there are several elements that are the same. However, this does not make it appear as a cheap version of other slots, and it is well put together with superb graphics and plenty of intricate details. One thing I found was that this is a fast-paced slot where things happen, and this could be thanks to the fact that all it takes is one spin for the features to start happening.

Personally, I like the slot but it does have some disappointments with my biggest issue being the potential which they capped at 2,500x the stake which makes me feel that this slot does not have the gumption to compete with current competitor slots. Regardless of this it is well-designed, fun and entertaining to play.
