Introducing Greta Goes Wild slot

Greta Goes Wild is a new release from the game developers at iSoftBet which invites players to visit the Oktoberfest where the worlds favourite waitress is back and even more enticing than before. The team have done a sterling job at creating a beer hall that is packed to the rafters whilst retaining the German atmosphere whilst Greta dishes out wilds, multiplier wilds, free spins, big wins and of course steins.

The locals call this “Wies’n” but this is more commonly known as Oktoberfest, which is an event which needs no introduction. Oktoberfest is possibly the largest beer festival in the world which has been the inspiration for fests popping up all over the place! However, there is no beating the original. So, what does lots of beer, a waitress who never stops smiling, sausage, and lederhosen equate to? The answer to this is Oktoberfest coupled with some outstanding music, so if you are ready to join in the fun read on.

Theme & Design

iSoftBet has done their best to bottle everything that sums up Oktoberfest and they have done a good job. The visuals are heavy with an abundance of wooded décor, and there is plenty to drink and Greta is the waitress that you would place an order with regardless of whether you are thirsty or hungry! With a warm glow about it and the band in full swing this is a slot that offers a great deal. So, if you are ready to join in, read on.

Game Set Up

In this slot iSoftBet have adopted a much simpler approach that in the similar slot namely Heidi's Bier Haus. When it comes to placing your bet you can bet a minimum of 20p per spin up to a maximum of £20 per spin which is a great range that will entice many players to give this a spin. The game plays out over a 5x3 standard grid complete with 10 pay lines. The game is straightforward and the return to player is 96% which is bang on in comparison with competitor slots. The slot is advertised as having a high volatility, but it does provide several win results that are capped but provide decent potential and returns.

Symbols

On the pay table there are many symbols that you will already be familiar with and some new additions and these are split into high and low paying symbols. The lower symbols are created from the usual playing card symbols 9 through to Ace and they sport a paisley styled pattern. The higher paying symbols are all things that you would expect to find at a beer festival and include in ascending order are pretzels, alpine hats, elaborate kegs, the cheerful chap Hans, all topped by the game’s logo. The values for the higher paying symbols differ with the values starting at 5x your stake up to 20x your stake. The wild is Greta and she can substitute for all the other symbols apart from the scatter. Greta is upgraded during the features and we can look at this now.

Features

Although the features appear minimal in this slot they work together effortlessly and build off each other to provide a bonanza of Greta’s and the possible wins that she can provide. Firstly, is the Oh Greta feature, this appears randomly and, on any spin, and once activated Greta bounces on the screen and you are guaranteed to land a big win or bonus. Big wins are denoted as wins that provide a win of 25x your stake or more. The symbol you will really want to land is the stein bonus which is the games scatter and can land on any position. If you land 3, 4, or 5, in view and you will be rewarded with 10, 12, or 15 free spins, respectively. When you land the wild Greta she remains in the position for the entirety of the feature, and better still if you manage to land 2 or 3 Greta wilds on the same reels and these turn into x2 or x3 wild multipliers.

However, there is a little glitch although it is more of a technicality than a glitch, if you land two or more wild multipliers on the same pay line only one multiplier is applied but if the multipliers have different values it is the higher value that will be applied. Finally, if you manage to land one or more sticky wilds on each of the reels and you will be rewarded with an extra two free spins.

Conclusion

Although Greta Goes Wild is situated in a beer hall in Germany the game play bears a lot of the same elements that you would find in Dead or Alive 2. For this reason it is not surprising that the base game has little to surprise you and really there is just an odd Greta moment however, those looking to play a simple yet intense slot will really appreciate the streamlined approach that is offered by this slot.

Despite the similarities that this slot may have to Dead or Alive 2 this slot is nowhere near as potent although the potential has been wound up to give the ability to land 8,000x your stake only having a single multiplier in the free spins feature can be a little bit of a let-down. This is purely because you can build up a good collection of Greta’s on your grid during the feature and it would have been far more exciting and palatable if there were more than one wild multiplier but it is what it is and I still found the slot most enjoyable.

There is no doubt that there are some great moments in this slot which I know players will enjoy. If I am being picky a few more of the higher paying symbols would be good (but you can say this about most slots). However, this slot falls within a narrow niche and Greta Goes Wild does not have to do anything more to stand out from the crowd.
