Overview of Raging Dragons

Raging Dragons is the latest slot to be released from the developers at iSoftBet and after having created Kings of Gold which was set in the Middle East they have returned to a genre and theme that they are more familiar with. This of course is an Asian theme which is a genre that the developers seemed to go to as their most favourite. The game playing public also seem to favour this type of slot providing that it is original and created to the highest quality. If you are ready to give Raging Dragons a spin or two keep reading.

Design and Theme

The audio-visual aspect of iSoftBet slots is always superb and this is highlighted yet again by the scene created for Raging Dragons. Although it is not an original one, the mountain scenery has been created in aesthetically pleasing blue tones that accentuate the height of the surrounding cliffs. Perched on the top of the peaks are traditional Chinese buildings, until this is completed with the five-reel, three row game area. There are five multicoloured Lions the sit on top of the reels which is a little different however these are not just decorative, they come into play in the features which we will look at below.

Gameplay, Facts and Figures

When it comes to playing Raging Dragons, iSoftBet offers the usual range of bets starting from a minimum of 20p per spin up to £20 per spin. The slot can be played on all devices and rather than using pay lines there is 243 ways to win system in place. Winning combinations are created when you land three or more of a kind from the leftmost reel in any row. The system ensures that the game flows and gives it a more modern feeling.

Raging Dragons offers some impressive numbers and although the return to player was not available when I tested this slot it is expected to come in around the 96% mark. The slots volatility is high due to the individual symbol values so you may find the gameplay to be a little all over the place. You also get several options to choose from in the bonus game and this affects the volatility to a degree but suits the style that the developer favours.

There are a few more rules to cover before we can discuss the good bits, and this includes the pay table with 13 pay symbols including a scatter and a wild. The lower paying symbols are the standard 9 to Ace card symbols whilst the premium symbols are more theme based and include potion bottles, a statue of a chicken, a boat, a horse and what looks like a kite. All the symbols have an Asian style and are not the usual symbols you would find in a slot which makes a refreshing change. When it comes to the values landing five in a row will reward you with 60x to 200x your stake.

Dragon Features

Raging Dragons offers several features in this Asian styled game which will see most players being satisfied. The variety is broad and the extras that pop up during the base and bonus games can reward you with some large wins provided they all come together.
This slot relies to a certain extent on player input. One area that requires more clicking on the screen is the wild dragon feature. Whenever you land a wild on your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th, reels a multiplier of x1, x2, x3, x4, or x5, will be applied, respectively. What I did find strange was that I had to choose which wild to activate particularly as the wilds only land on one reel during the base game.

The mystery lucky envelope feature is one of the most interesting, and these red envelopes are common in Asian culture and are filled with money and given gifts at certain holidays. In this slot, the red-letter feature can become activated on any spin, and when it is activated the envelope will open to award a cash prize of 8x, 88x, 888x, or 8888x the bet.
The final feature is the free spins which you can activate when you land 3 or more of the green orb scatter symbols. As well as this activating the bonus game you will also be rewarded with a pay out of 2x, 5x, or 20x when you land 3, 4, or 5 scatters, respectively. You then get to choose one of the following free spin options. If you choose 10 free spins these come complete with +1 wild multiplier of 10x, 15x or 30x, choosing 13 free spins with +1 wild multiplier of 8x, 10x, or 15x. Choosing 15 free spins will reward you with +1 multiplier of 5x, 8x or 10x, choosing 20 free spins will reward you with +1 multiplier of 3x, 5x or 8x and finally 25 free spins will provide you with +1 wild multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x.

The sixth mystery option will reward you with a random combination of free spin multipliers from those discussed above. Whilst playing the bonus feature the wild can land on all five reels and the multiplier values will alternate on every spin. You can extend this feature by landing one or two scatters as this will provide you with two or four additional spins which are then added to your remaining amount. Landing three scatters will reactivate the initial free spin choice plus the respective cash prize.

Conclusion

This is an enjoyable slot that will appeal to regular players as much as it will Asian slots fans. The bonus games multiplier feature is a highlight however the lure of the red-letter bonus during the main game certainly kept my interest alive. Although the gameplay is simple the combined features and 243-win ways raise the game to an above average Asian standard. This is hardly surprising as the developer at iSoftBet regularly produce slots with the theme of the eastern part of the globe. Their expertise is highlighted by the exceptional graphics and the way in which the theme is presented. When developers are designing an Asian style slot, they can be rather limited on the imagery available to them. However, this has not been a problem as iSoftBet have provided a wide range of themed symbols. Inclusion of the red envelope broadens the cultural experience even more and it also helps to see the big wins leaping from the envelope to give the games overall potential an extremely high rating, and players can win up to 12,150x their stake making the slot appeal to a mass market.

I enjoyed playing Raging Dragons and if you are really into the Asian theme, I would say this is one slot you will not want to miss. Whilst it is not enchanting there is some great gameplay going on beneath what will appear as a common wrapping. My rating for this game would be 7.5/10 with winning's being frequent enough to see me walk away slightly up on my original investment.
