Overview of Cash Noire slot
Cash Noire is the latest slot from the Swedish developers at NetEnt that will give you the chance to embark on a journey with a difference where you have to crack a most sinister case in this crime ridden slot. It is hard not to think about crime when you hear the word Noire, other images it conjures up dames, the seedy areas and a world like you have ever seen before. If you are ready to get on the case, then keep reading.
The inspiration for this slot could have come from the L.A Noire video game which was produced by Rockstar Games in 2011. This slot needs you to help the detective Tom Flint on his quest to solve the case of the Green Ace murders. This is a purely fictional crime that needs you to collect all the necessary evidence in the Crime Zone (explained below).
Carrying out this will trigger the list of clues to reveal the murderer and be rewarded with a prize. In the same way as any good detective story plays out there is suspense around every corner!
Design, Game Play & Statistics
There is no getting away from the fact that when it comes to the visuals NetEnt could not have made a better job. The slot is played over 5-reels and 1,024 fixed bet ways and takes place in a dark and shaded room which is lit up by a dash of neon. Even though the visuals are superb whether you want to get involved most likely depends on the statistics that Cash Noire has to offer.
This slot does not rank high by any means, however, thanks to the low potential winning combinations and low volatility this is the sort of game that hard core gamers will really appreciate. The return to player will appeal to all types of player as it offers a solid 96.06% with a 21.8% hit frequency. Better still in this slot every win activates the Avalanche feature, this is a feature that was originally styled by NetEnt in their famous Gonzo’s Quest slot.
When it comes to placing your bets, Cash Noire will appeal to a wide audience as the minimum bet starts from just 20p per spin and hits a maximum of £200 per spin. This slot does not use pay lines instead it offers 1,024 fixed bet ways. Wins are made by landing three or more matching symbols starting with the first reel and the win symbols can land in any position due to the 1,024 ways in which you can win.
There is a good range of symbols on the pay table and these start with a magnifying glass, the ace of spades, whiskey on the rocks, a handgun, and a dagger. These are followed by the higher paying symbols which include a dame, Detective Flint, a femme fatale and a very shady Pit Viper.
The symbols provide some low paying values across the board in fact these are the lowest stakes we have seen for quite some time, even five of the premium symbols will provide just 0.80x the bet. There is no wild either to enhance these amounts further, therefore it is the features that you will rely on to land some decent winnings.
There are several features with this slot which make up for the lowered win values, so be on the lookout for Mystery symbols, Crime Zone and Clue List, Avalanches, and free spins.
The first feature is the Avalanche, and this works by removing win symbols from the reels when they land, and this makes spaces for the new symbols to drop down into. This can then provide you with more chances of winning as the Avalanche feature continues running in the background providing you continue to hit the wins.
The next feature the Crime Zone is hailed by a red pattern of hotspots that activate on every spin. To begin with there are just three hotspots however this increases as you land clues from the Clue List. Winning symbols that land within the Crime Zone will trigger items on the Clue List, if you manage to land all thirteen clues then you will be rewarded with free spins.
The Mystery Symbol in this slot is depicted by the bank vault and this can appear anywhere during regular or free spins. If you land the Mystery Symbol outside of the Crime Zone, and it will then change into a random symbol shown on the pay table.
However, if the Mystery Symbol falls within the Crime Zone, it then clones itself onto all positions in the pattern. Every cloned symbol then transforms into another random symbol from the pay table so that you can potentially land even larger wins.
The Free spins certainly turn up the action as these include the City Chase Map which is complete with a Multiplier which starts at x1. In this feature the symbols that are in the Crime Zone will light up locations on the Chase Map. For every seven locations that you activate the multiplier goes up by one for the following spin. If all the locations on the Chase Map light up the case closes the multiplier reaches its highest at x10 and you will also be rewarded with three additional spins. The free spins technically hit on average one in every two hundred and thirty-eight.
Verdict of Cash Noire
Cash Noire is the type of slot that you will either love or hate. If you are not a fan of the dark ambience this slot provides then there is little chance that this slot will win you over. The absorbing atmosphere and huge sense of style this slot offers are excellent however I did find the math model rather disappointing. I would describe the game as long and lean with the lean referring to the low pay outs on offer. If you manage to solve the case and land the 10x multiplier you have the chance to win over 5,000x your bet.
This is a well-executed slot which is easy on the eye and offer some interesting features. Personally, I was happy to try out this low variance and I really did have a ball pretending I was a Private Investigator on a case. The pay outs whilst minimal can be boosted thanks to the Mystery Symbols, Crime Zone, Clue List, Free Spins complete with the City Chase Map with multipliers of up to 10x the stake.
