Introducing the Secret of the Stones MAX Slot

Currently the highest rating Netflix series is the new Witcher show which is based around magic, mystery and fantasy that has hit a chord with TV viewers. Secrets of the Stones MAX from NetEnt is based on a similar these as it is set within a fantasy land where magic is mandatory and the bearded men with staffs know every secret there is to know. This slot is a re-release of the hugely popular original Secret of the Stones which was first released in 2013. In the same vein as the original slot, this slot has been given the full MAX effect and turns the rewards and volatility to epic proportions. The slot centres around the gentle world according to Celtic druids so of you are ready, grab your wooden staff and let’s head back to nature.

Classic or MAX

This slot is very similar to the original and although I would not describe it as visually stunning it offers crisp, clean graphics that pay true homage to the developers at NetEnt. The slot plays out over a 5-reel, 3-row grid and is placed within a sacred area of rock, with the reels flanked by two pillars that include the 25 pay lines. The pay lines are fixed meaning that you have no flexibility but you can decide on your bet level which starts at 1 and goes up to 10 and also the bet amount that starts from 0.01 coins up to a maximum of 0.50 coins and this equates to total bets of 25p per spin up to £125 per spin and this is a slot that will appeal to all kinds of players.

Once you have selected your wager, you must make the all-important choice whether you are going to play in the Classic or MAX mode however you can swap one for the other at any time. The softer option is the Classic which provides a low to medium variance but lower potential or the MAX mode which is for the hardened players who are happy to take bigger risks for bigger prizes. The RTP in Classic mode is 96.72% and 96.81% in MAX mode.

Symbols in Secret of the Stones MAX

The symbols are all listed on the pay table and include the usual playing card 10 through to Ace which are the lowest payers and carved in stone. Then there are the premium symbols which are Celtic animals in the guise of a wolf, bull, snake, owl and deer. The red deer is the highest paying symbol providing 160x your bet in MAX mode and 50x in Classic mode. You will also come across five different wilds, but in the base game you will only see one which is the 1x1 tile druid and he can substitute for all the regular symbols to create winning combinations. The other wilds will show up in the bonus round.

You will really see the difference between the two modes when it comes to the features. The tree of life symbol is the scatter, and this can land anywhere during the feature rounds. If you get lucky and manage to land three scatters you will activate the bonus game and be rewarded with 10 free spins. However, prior to the free spins your screen will be covered with 20 separate stones and it is the number of scatters that have triggered the round that denotes the number of picks from three to five that you will be rewarded with. Each of the stones you uncover will award you with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 10 additional free spins.

If you are a fan of the original Secret of the Stones slot this revamped effort is sure to appeal, as it will also appeal to players that are looking for high volatility combined with high rewards. It is worth noting that if the symbols don’t fall your way you could be in with a tough game, but this is true of any slot.

I enjoyed playing this slot immensely, but all players have their own gaming preferences. For me the Classic mode was rather outdated and not really that exciting whilst the MAX mode provided the excitement and a real difference in the size of the wins. This is sure to be a well-received slot that is most definitely worth a spin or two.
