Overview Age of the Gods: Book of Oracle slot
Following on from Age of Gods Norse: Book of Dwarves, and due to its phenomenal success, the developers from Playtech have decided to keep using the book of mechanics. This slot the Age of Gods: Book of Oracle is more Orthodox; however, you will benefit from randomly chosen symbols that can potentially expand in the base game. Clearly this game has been inspired by the high priestess of the Temple of Apollo Pythia who is also better known as the Oracle of Delphi.
Design & Symbols
The Age of the Gods: Book of Oracle offers decent visuals, and the Greek mythology theme is a refreshing touch considering how often the dusty Egyptian tombs are in this type of game.
Above your reels you will see the book, and the pages flick on every spin, sometimes you will land a blank page, and nothing will happen, however if you land a page that has a symbol or symbols shown on it you can then activate the book feature. This however will only happen if the book symbol on display matches a symbol that is part of a winning combination. The chosen symbol then expands to fill the entire reel giving you an additional winner calculation. You can win up to 1,000 times your stake if the Oracle symbol fills the entire screen, whilst the lowest value Royal playing card symbols10s, Jack, and Queen can provide you with pay-outs of up to 75 times your stake.
Landing three, four, or five, book scatters anywhere insight on your screen will trigger the bonus round and you will be rewarded with 10 free spins to begin with, the book above your reels will then randomly select a chosen symbol. This symbol becomes the expanding symbol for the entirety of the bonus round and will expand all the time provided that enough symbols land and create a winning combination.
The book feature also stays active during the free spins, which means that new potential expanding symbols can be chosen on each spin. This means that you will get multiplying expanding symbols on the same spin and they then take turns to expand and provide you with their respective winnings.
The bonus round can be reactivated when you land three or more books scatters anywhere on a free spin, and for this the reward is an additional 5 new spins. This can go on indefinitely and there is no upper limit on how many extra spins you can be rewarded with.
The Age of Gods jackpot feature can be activated at random on any spin. You then get to be a part of a classic pick ’em bonus game where you need to select coins from the grid. You continue to select coins until you have matched three jackpot coins and you will then win the corresponding jackpot. This slot offers four progressive jackpots, and these are, the power jackpot which will reward you with £50, the extra power jackpot which rewards £500, the superpower Jackpot that will give you a win of £5,000, and the ultimate jackpot which rewards you with a life changing amount of +£100,000.
On average the ultimate power jackpot lands around every six weeks and provides an average pay-out of £485,116. The largest jackpot that has been won so far was by an anonymous Chilean and they walked off with approximately £999,090.
Players that are au fait with the Age of God series, and the book series of slots will certainly have been waiting for this new merger of the two popular concepts. When I tested this slot, I found that although the wins were few, they were worth the wait, however, the 1,000 times per spin potential is rather low considering what most book of slots will offer. This is made up for though by the four jackpots and the decent return to player that stands at 96.48%.
If I had to choose between this slot and the predecessor, I would have to say that this is slightly less innovating however, it does stay truer to the original form of the book slot tradition. I enjoyed playing this slot and even walked away with a profit in my pocket which is always a great bonus. Having the book on display above the reels is a very clever touch and using the expanding symbols in the base game makes the slot far more exciting. Although, the single spin maximum win is 5x lower than what has become the norm in this genre and this game is aimed in my opinion mostly at the jackpot chasers. However, if you enjoy both the book of mechanic and the Age of God series this is one slot you need to checkout.
My rating would stand at 7/10, and I do recommend that players give this slot a spin or two.
