Overview of Diamond Duke Slot
Diamond Duke from Quickspin appears to emulate the original one-armed bandit but it does offer several modern extras that make it far more appealing. The slot has two bonus wheels, a pick and click bonus and whilst it is highly volatile you do have the chance to win up to 8000x your stake.
Theme and Design
When it comes to the theme Diamond Duke will take you back to the 1950s and the classic era of rock and roll. The slot is set in a time when cars were massive, Peggy Sue still had not got married and Danny and Sandy from Grease were trying to decide whether they really liked each other. This time is well known as the era of chrome, and you would come across it everywhere you went. Due to the slot being set in a time where there was very little technology it may come across to begin with as a stripped back slot however, it does offer some interesting features which can lead to some great wins.
This retro slot has the grid set within an old-style one-armed bandit which is bathed in spotlights. At the top of the screen there are two intriguing bonus wheels. The soundtrack creates smooth laidback jazz style ambience and Quickspin have done a really good job creating this relaxed scenario. As the 1950s were far simpler the game takes place on a 3x 3 slot and plays out in a very classic way.
The symbols that you can expect to come across are very apt considering the genre and these are cherries, melons, grapes, bells, 7s and diamonds. The values of the symbols range between 1x up to 160x your stake, the cherries award 1x for landing 3 on your reels and the diamonds being the highest players and worth 160x your bet. The game plays out over 5 fixed pay lines and as the symbols can be stacked on your reels and landing a full grid of diamonds will reward you with 800x your bet, this can be higher when the features come into play.
The underlying math model used in this slot provides a return to player of 96.23% and Quickspin's volatility in this game is set at 5 therefore the highest volatility that they provide in slots. When it comes to placing your bets, the game will become a favourite with both low and high rollers as they start from just 5p per spin up to £100 pounds per spin.
Diamond Duke Features
When it comes to the features, Diamond Duke offers an additional three with each tied to the bonus wheel which can hand out some sizeable multipliers and will give you access to the bonus pick and click feature.
The wheels scatter symbol is the key to the bonus wheel and landing two of these symbols in view will reward you with 4x your bet plus an additional spin of the bonus wheel. You will then be rewarded with either a multiplier of x2, x3, x5, x7 or x10 or the pick and click bonus game. Any multipliers are then applied to the total win at the end of the feature.
The pick and click round are simple and provides three different stages which contain coin wins based upon the amount you have bet. You can continue to make picks until you receive either an upgrade symbol which takes you up a level or the collect symbol which brings the feature to an end. Stage one provides you with prizes from x2 to x7 your bet. Stage 2 rewards you with prizes of x3 up to x15 your bet and finally stage three offers prizes between x5 and x100 of your bet. If you are lucky enough to land three of the wheel symbols, you will be rewarded with 8x your bet plus a spin on the bonus wheel and one spin of the multiplier wheel.
When this happens all the stages above are played through and when these have been completed you have a spin on the multiplier wheel to add an additional multiplier of x2 up to x10 of your total win. In simple terms this means that there are substantial wins on offer that can continue to build up on top of each other before you go back to the base game.
Diamond Duke is an utterly charming slot and well worth a look at if you feel like stripping things back and playing a simple three-reel slot. The game itself is laid back with a great ambiance and soundtrack which also gives you the chance for some fast gameplay during the features and large wins. Visually it may not be the most striking game you will have come across however
Quickspin have certainly done a great job of taking players back to the 1950s where American diners and classic cars were a big thing. If you are anything like me after playing the game, you will certainly be ready for some pancakes and a milkshake!
The math model used in this slot is good to, the return to play and volatility are decent and the maximum potential win is high standing at 8000x your stake. Admittedly, I did not hit the high prizes however I consistently won some of the smaller amounts and really enjoyed everything this slot has to offer.
In conclusion, Diamond Duke is an excellent example of a simple slot with the bonus of a few useful features. Usually with a slot like this you would not expect to see the multipliers in action and if you are looking to play some 3x3 gameplay then Diamond Duke will most certainly give you this plus so much more.
