Introducing Secrets of the Temple slot
Secrets of the Temple is one of the latest releases from the team at Red Rake, and it invites you to follow the adventures in the temple of Angkor Wat of an archaeologist who in searching for treasure. Whilst it shares the stereotypical Lara Croft vibe that is seen in many slots it still manages to be so much more than just a pretty face even though this populates one of the highest paying symbols in the slot.
Theme and Design
There is no getting away from the fact that this slot has been designed with a real influence of Indiana Jones meets Lara Croft with the beautiful young women being the main character. The slot will take you to Asia and more specifically the Angkor Wat temple. Amongst the symbols you will come across will be the lower paying Royal cards that are created from stone, together with images of airplanes, maps, idols, temples, tools, a compass and an archaeologist.
The slot plays out over a 5x3 reel set and gives players 243 ways to win, however it is worth noting that when we tried the slot realistically the highest we managed to get was 729x our stake when in the free spins round. The alternative may come from the jackpots which you can come across in a mini game whilst other features you will come across include mystery symbols, stacked wilds, free spins with stacked wild multipliers, or the Grand Jackpot Map symbols.
Betting and Prizes
When it comes to placing your bets, you can choose to bet a minimum pf £0.16 or maximum of $40 which makes this slot accessible to all types of player. The high rollers out there may be looking for more, but most people will feel comfortable within these stakes. It is suggested that you could land 1,458x your stake in the free spins and this equates to having 1x your stake on each of your 243-win lines complete with a 6x multiplier in the mix too. There are some superb features to activate which means you will have plenty of chance to land some type of win. Unfortunately, when it comes to the return to player it is slightly lower than I would usually play standing at 95.03%.
There is a wide variety of features of offer in this slot and I will start with the stacked wilds which will only land on your third reel and you can also land regular wilds in other areas of the game. The stacked wilds will help you to gain access to the secret minigame where you can choose picks and find coins. If you land three matching coins you will then be rewarded with the mini, minor, major or grand jackpots. There is also the mystery symbol and ultimately this can provide you with multiple identical symbols and all the mystery positions then change in the same single symbols. When you land the map symbols on your 1st and 5th reels you will be rewarded with the grand jackpot.
The slot has a Temple symbol which will appear scattered on your 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels. Landing all three and you will gain access to the free spins round. In the free spins you are rewarded with extra wild multipliers thar can end up with you having your wins boosted by 2x or 3x. As well as this you can still land the stacked wilds on your third reel and extra scatters with the +1 logo which can also appear on your 5th reel giving you extra rounds to play.
For me the best feature on offer is that you can play Secrets of the Temple in demo mode which means that you can get a feel for the game and know how everything plays out without having to risk any of your own money. This is a feature that I think all slots should offer and whilst the majority do there are still some games that have yet to offer this useful feature.
Summing up the Secrets of the Temple provided me with average returns, nothing spectacular but at least there was something. The returns however were below the average return to player the slot professes to offer. The features are solid and well created but for me the overall impression is middle of the road, not superb but not terrible. I think average would be what best describes Secrets of the Temple and whilst it is not much better than the slots that are currently available.
