Overview Agent Royale slot

Agent Royale is the latest slot from the development team at Red Tiger and although they have kept this slot straight forward, the spy game theme can be a complicated world at the best of times. Although players will be spinning for rather low rewards in this game there are sticky Wilds available as well as free spins as the agent takes on femme fatales as well as disarming explosive devices.

Theme & Symbols

The slot is located downtown and provides a viewpoint as if someone has passed out and is staring upwards into the Sky. There are buildings either side of the screen with a couple of signs that say things such as good luck or win now, admittedly it may be a little cheesy however some words of positivity never go amiss.

When it comes to the music and sound effects used in this slot, they are generic and could be used in any game. The star of the show, Agent Royale is also recognisable as he is a dead ringer for David Gandy the English fashion model. Who knows maybe he is looking for a part in a future spy movie and has allowed the developers to use his face to plant that seed in the producer’s mind!

There are nine regular pay symbols that you will find on your reels and these start with the usual low paying card Royals 10 through to Ace which have a metallic finish and are worth from 1x to 4x your bet when you land five of a kind. The premium symbols are more glamorous, and you will come across cocktails, a dice, bombs, and sports cars. If you land five of these symbols on one of your pay lines you will be rewarded from 2.5x to 4x the stake. Whilst these are not the most valuable wins they do get better during the features.

Game Play

When it comes to the gameplay, Agent Royale plays out on a 5x4, 40 pay line grid. The first thing players need to do is to select the best that they are most comfortable playing with, and they can choose from as little as 10p per spin to £40 per spin, and the slot is available to play on all devices. Although Agent Royale has a decent bonus game the volatility is certainly not that high. The return to player is acceptable but not really a great selling point as it stands at 95.77% which is rather low compared to competitor’s slots. However, to the slots credit I found it easy to activate the free spins, but without the bonus frequency this may have just been a strike of luck.

Features

When it comes to secret agents, they always appear to have the latest gadgets on hand, whether it be a key finder which explodes when the agent whistles the correct tune, or a watch that doubles as a laser, there always seems to be something that they have at their disposal. In keeping with this, the hero always has the right device to get out of a jam. This slot is rather light when it comes to features however it does offer sticky Wilds as well as free spins.

There are two wild symbols on offer in Agent Royale, one is a regular 1x1 bomb wild whilst the other is a 1x2 sized Agent Royale wild. The primary job of these symbols is to substitute for any of the regular pay symbols to create winning combinations. When the 1x2 wild land on the same spin as the bomb pay symbols, the agent tries to diffuse them. If he is successful in cutting the right wire, the bomb symbol turns into the wild counterpart. It will then be locked in place for an additional spin. If the agent diffuses more bombs on the next spin, and all the wilds are locked in for an additional spin.

The scatter symbol is represented by the female seductress and she can land in any position. It is rather hard to tell if she is a good or a bad character, however the dragon tattoo that she has on her back is a red flag. Landing three scatters anywhere on your screen will reward you with eight free spins, and on the 1st spin the agent Wilde will be locked to the centre position. Additionally, in the free spins, each wild which lands in view and is part of a winning combination will stay locked for the remainder of the feature and he will also be awarded with one extra free spin.

Conclusion

Apart from the arduous task of disarming bombs, Agent Royale does not convey feelings of danger at all. The opposite could be true, as it comes across as a piece of light entertainment aimed at players who are looking for midground thrills rather than pushing their luck to the extreme. Apart from the small amount of spy glam that is provided by the two characters there is a lack of passion in the games design. The sound effects could have been used in any slot and although there is nothing wrong with the graphics they do not stand out as much as I would have liked.

The MI6 agent always had to crop up as a comparison, and where James Bond was all about risking it on the flip of the next card, Agent Royale in this slot is not so extreme. The slot offers a modest potential with the highest win being 1,760x your bet. Regardless of this, Agent Royale is still worth a few spins even if it is just to see how the developers portray the spy genre. When I tested this slot, the base game was not that appealing, but it was not long until a few bombs provided me with some meagre wins. The free spins however hold more promise as the Wilds stay sticky for the remainder of the feature and I did land a full screen of them.

I enjoyed playing Agent Royale and although it comes across as a low volatile, low win slot I was pleased with the wins that I landed. Personally, I would rate this lot as 6.5/10 and although I knew that I was not going to walk away with a fortune it was a great way to pass some time when you just want to relax and enjoy some downtime.
