Overview of Attila the Hun

Attila the Hun is the latest slot to come from the developers at Relax Gaming which is unsurprisingly based around the famous and historical figure, Attila the Hun. The story behind this slot is the battle that took place between Attila and Aetius the leader of the Roman army.

Attila had a good track record as an invader having tried again and again to storm the Roman Empire and whilst he was not successful, he was very brutal in his attempts. Attila earnt the title of the ‘scourge of god’ by the Christian empire. Relax Gaming are known for this type of culture clashes and it is something that it does very well and representative of each side fairly.

Attila Play

You will notice straight aware that there is a quality in this slot which is not present in other Relax Gaming slots. Your battles will take place on a 5x3 grid and on the screen are two armies which are lined up ready to fight. To the right there is Attila’s army and to the left is the Roman Legions. One of the most famous battles is the Battle of the Catalonian Plains in France, and even though Aetius defeated Attila it makes for the perfect theme of this slot. However, before you can take part you need to place your bet which starts from just 10p per spin up to a maximum £100 which will certainly attract the high rollers. This is a simple slot that is easy to play with the aim being to match three of the same symbols on any one of the twenty pay lines. The slot is high in terms of variance and although there are generally plenty of non-winning spins it does boast a respectable 96.35% RTP.

The symbols go hand in hand with the unique graphics and you can expect to see old green, bronze, silver and gold coins for the low payers, these are followed by the mid payers which are represented by dogs, wolves and a horse. Finally, are the two premium symbols a Hunnic blue shield and a red Roman shield, landing five of these will see you rewarded with 15x and 20x your bet respectively.

Feature Details

This is a rather busy slot and it provides six features which involve either free spins or re-spins with the most frequent being the walking wild re-spins. The wild is represented by the soldiers from both sides and these can substitute for all other symbols with a value of 20x your bet. Land these in the base game and the re-spins become active with the wild moving one space to the left or right on each new spin, and once they are no longer in view the re-spins end.

The Hun wilds move to the left whilst the Roman wilds move to the right, and if you are lucky to land opposing wilds on a re-spin the small battle free spins feature begins. In this feature you will see two symbols combine into a single 2x2 battle symbol and two soldiers battle, on every new spin the symbol moves one space randomly and turns into a wild. Once the battle symbol leaves the grid the small battle feature comes to an end although this doesn’t mean that the walking wild re-spins are over as the wilds that are activated continue moving across the reels until they are gone signalling the end of the feature.

Attila Verdict

There are both good and bad parts of this slot but thanks to the way the game has been crafted it will appeal to a wide audience, as it offers some excellent play potential. This is quite a niche theme too which could reel in the historians out there. The feel of the slot is upbeat, and the symbols are perfectly crafted to fit the game precisely and keep the theme running through the entire game.

The speed of this slot is both good and bad and of you are looking for value for money you will be pleased to see the fight scenes and walking wild re-spins do draw the proceedings out. However, if you are looking for a fast and hard game this slot is not going to give you this and you may get fed up with the pace.

When it comes to the win potential if you were to land a screen of premium symbols (which I never did!) and these appeared stacked (which again didn’t for me!) you could win 400x your stake, although without multipliers it is hard to land significant wins.
