This slot comes from a new designer in the industry set up just last year. Print Studios are an iGaming organisation that comes under the Relax Gaming company umbrella. Their mandate is to create games for “enthusiasts in search of deeper gameplay”.

Despite being one of the newest studios, their ranks are populated by veteran designers, so do not expect any bogeys from this team. Book of Destiny is their first slot – a standard five-reel, ten payline slot with a high-quality finish. Statistically, this game offers some pleasing numbers, including a relatively high RTP of 96.5%.

The main feature in this game is an exciting free spin round with an expanding symbol element that adds another layer of gameplay. The background for this slot is an entrance to a sandstone temple. To the left and right of the board are noble statues of a Pharoah and his wife, their faces relieved in course sandy rock. Behind these effigies is the immensity of the temple or pyramid itself. All you can really see are blocks upon blocks of earth-coloured stone. Interestingly, the stone used to construct the pyramids was clad on the surface with limestone. This created a brilliant white shine that reflected the sun’s rays, making looking directly at the pyramids almost unbearable.

The board is a simple golden rectangle with what appear to be two asps (the snake most associated with Cleopatra) curling around the exterior of the playing window.

The symbols for this slot are split into low-value, high-value and special symbols. The high-value symbols here are the 10-A in card royals. The higher paying icons, on the other hand, are the various Egyptian gods. These include Anubis, Thoth and Horus. Joining the gods is the plucky explorer. He is the most valuable symbol, paying put at 500x the stake for the top combination. As always, when dealing with any Book of… slot, the book is the scatter; however, it also doubles for the wild in this game. The book has the same value as the top value regular symbol too.

Game Play

Book of Destiny is played on a 5-reel, 3-row machine with 10 fixed pay lines. To win combinations, players must land three or more matching symbols on pay lines moving from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.

The betting range for Book of Destiny is 10p to £80 per spin. To adjust their bet levels, players can toggle their stake up and down using the tool located at the bottom left-hand side of the screen.

As briefly mentioned, the main feature in this slot is the free spins game. This feature is triggered when players land three or more of the scatters on the reels at once. Landing more scatters gives you more spins and increases the initial payout you are rewarded with when you trigger the bonus.

Before the spins start, you will be given the option of choosing which symbols you would like to be the expanding symbol for the round. Expanding symbols, when they land, fill the entire reel, meaning that they pay on all lines on that reel. At this point, you can either go straight to the free spins or elect to gamble to try and win more spins before the round starts.
If you choose to gamble, you will be taken to a new screen with a bonus wheel on it. You must then spin the wheel. Land on a white segment to pick up more scatter symbols, land on a black segment and lose symbols. If you have one or fewer symbols at the end of the spin, the free spins are lost to you completely.

However, if you gain three or more scatters, you will be awarded ten extra spins to your tally, plus another expanding symbol.

This is a solid opening slot for the new provider and hopefully a sign of high-quality slots to come.
