Theme and Symbols

The theme for this slot game is the Incan Empire. This vast and advanced civilisation spread throughout the Andean region of South America from the early 15th century up until the Spanish conquest in the 1530s. One of the most famous landmarks created by the Incan Empire is Machu Picchu, an amazing citadel located in what is today eastern Peru. Max Win Gaming have taken their inspiration from buildings and temples like this, creating a grand and complex game theme that is vibrant and entertaining.

The background for this game is a depiction of one of the many temples which would have dominated the central areas of Incan cities. The temple stretches high into the clouds and is surrounded by dense rainforest in luscious green. The background has something Indiana Jones about it yet is also fairly original. Most games adopting this theme usually pick a temple as the background for their games as they are visually striking and immediately signal the theme, as Incan temples have a distinct and unmistakable shape.

The playing window for this game is a separate gate to the temple decorated in a range of golden hues.
The symbols for Golden Gods are split into low-paying, high-paying and special symbols. The low-paying symbols are the 9, 10, J, Q, K and A in playing card royals. The most a player can win from these is 1.5x the stake for the top combination. On the other hand, the higher value symbols comprise the various gods on the reels. These start with the blue god, green and purple, and finally, the red god. This latter god is the most lucrative, paying out at 3x the stake for the top combination. The only special symbol in this game is the bonus scatter – a golden plate.

Game Play

Golden Gods is played on a 5-reel, 5-row machine with 3,125 fixed pay lines. To win combinations, players must land three or more matching symbols on pay lines moving from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.

Features

The first feature included in this game is the re-spin feature. To trigger this bonus, players must land a winning combination that is composed of high-value symbols, and at least one scatter symbol. Doing so will make the reels re-spin until a new re-spin does not find a win

The second feature here is the bonus round, triggered when players land three or more of the scatters on the reels simultaneously. These triggering scatters are then turned into sticky money symbols whilst all other symbols are removed from the reel set. You are given six free spins with this game in which only further money symbols or a selection of special icons can land. When subsequent money symbols land, they will also lock in place and boost your spins tally. The special icons, however, are a little more complex. These are explained below:

The Regular symbol – carries a value of 2x to 8x the bet.
The Gold symbol – has a value of 10x to 200x the bet and awards +2 free spins.
The Itzamna icon– mirrors the value of a random symbol and adds it to all symbols.
Ix Chel Icon– This symbol will either merge 2-4 cash symbols into one position by summing their values and multiplying the amount by its own multiplier or turning one of the feature symbols golden, which means its effect triggers every spin.
Kinich Ahau icon - sums up the value of all symbols and collects them.

The Chaac symbol selects up to 3 cash prizes and doubles their values up to 3 times each. Plus, there is a chance a cash prize is converted to a feature symbol or a non-active feature symbol is reactivated.

Conclusion

Incan fun with some great features and an awesome top prize, what's not to like? Indeed, it is easy to fault this game, although if one was to try, they could say the volatility is a little high and triggering the bonus game is actually pretty hard to do. On balance, though, this is a pretty excellent product from the Max Win Gaming studio.
