Farm Madness Overview

Designed by Zeus Gaming, Farm Madness takes players to a traditional American farm to test their luck against the wild algorithm of this slot. The thematic twist in this game is that all the animals and the farmer himself have contracted some sort of bizarre disease that sparks lunacy in its host. Indeed, all the chickens, cows and sheep in this game have an unnerving stare to them. Usually, when games use the word ‘crazy’, they mean silly and light-hearted however the creatures in this game seem genuinely unhinged.

Mechanically, this game has 243 pay lines and five reels and an RTP of 96%.
The features for this game begin with the wild bonus. There are two wild symbols in this game. The first is a pitchfork which can replace any regular symbol to help score more wins. The farmer driving his tractor is the other wild symbol. This symbol can fall and fill anything up to five reels at once in an expanded format. The other main bonus in this game is the free spins, triggered by landing three or more of them on the reels. Depending on how many you land, you will also be given a multiplier for your spins up to 4x. The stacked wild farmer symbol is also guaranteed to land on at least one reel for every spin.

Theme and Symbols

The theme for this game is a farm that has literally gone mad in the sense that all the farm inhabitants are afflicted by some sort of brain infecting disease that creates psychosis in anything that contracts it. Zeus Gaming clearly thought that a straightforward barnyard theme was a bit bland and overdone. However, we aren’t sure if our first instinct would be introducing a brain-wasting madness to all the animals on the farm. That being said, you can’t fault the effort of the designers, and they definitely get points for novelty.

The background for this game is a typical barnyard scene looking out onto a collection of fields delineated by iconic white picket fences. The vista has a strange artistic flair, which puts all of the elements on a strange angle, including the poplar trees, the hay bales, and the surrounding pastures. The ladder and wooden pale also look strangely crooked. Perhaps this entire background interprets what the world looks like to one of the deranged animals or farmers. That being true or not, the background is bright, colourful and exciting to look at.

The playing board is a wooden construction that looks perfectly in keeping with the surrounding agricultural visual elements.
The symbols for this game are split into low-paying, high-paying and special symbols. The low-paying symbols are the 9, 10, J, Q, K and A in playing card royals. The most valuable of these are the K and A, paying out at 50x the stake for the top combination of five in a row. On the other hand, the more valuable symbols are the fox, goose, chicken, pig, sheep, and cow. The most valuable of these animals is the cow, worth 170x the stake for the top combination. The specials are comprised of the pitchfork and farmer wilds, and the corn on the cob scatter, which helps trigger the free spins game.

Game Play

Farm Madness is played on a 5-reel, 3-row machine with 243 fixed pay lines. To win combinations, players must land three or more matching symbols on pay lines moving from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The betting range for Farm Madness is 1p to £1 per spin. To adjust their bet levels, players can toggle their stake up and down using the tool located at the bottom left-hand side of the screen.
Further information, including a short tutorial and a display of the paytable, can be found via the menu button in the right-hand corner of the screen. The spin and auto spin buttons are located in the centre of the screen.
Volatility for this slot is rated in the medium range. The return to player percentage for Farm Madness is 96%, which is average. The biggest payout that players can win on one spin is 29,160x your stake.

Features

The first feature in this game is the wild bonus feature which concerns the pitchfork and mad farmer symbols. Both of these icons can replace all other symbols in the game, barring the corn on the cob to help trigger more frequent wins. However, the farmer symbol can also come in expanded formats, falling across up to five reels at the same time. This gives players an even greater chance of scoring wins.

The other main bonus in this slot is the free spins feature, triggered when players land three or more of the corn on the cob scatter icons on the board simultaneously. This will result in seven free spins. Depending on the number of scatters that you used to trigger the free spins, the free spins also come with varying size multipliers. The more that you used to trigger the bonus, the larger the multiplier active for the duration of the spins. The stacked wild farmer is also guaranteed to be present on every free spin in some capacity.

Conclusion

Although a little low on feature content and despite having a bizarre theme, Farm Madness proved quite a bit of fun and a slot that paid out every now and then with some decent pots. If you can stick it out and try for those big multiplier wins in the free spins game, this slot could be quite lucrative. That being said, there are better performing farm-themed slots out there that don’t make you look into the demented eyes of a chicken.
