Elemental Princess is the latest slot to come from Yggdrasil Gaming’s partner studio, Dreamtech. The slot will take you on a journey to the centre of the Asian genre which appears to be one of their most favoured area of the slot market. The slot is set around four princesses with each harbouring their own secret power and reward when playing the games modifiers and or the free spins. You will be treated to sticky wilds, spreading wilds, floating wilds, and win multipliers.

Theme & Design

This slot has a gentle appearance, with the background that changes in accordance with which princess is active at that point. The background could be rolling hills, bamboo stalks, light green trees, and cherry blossoms. When the princesses appear together, they resemble an Asian styled gang that could have come straight from the Art Nouveau paintings by Alphonse Mucha’s entitled the four seasons.

Game Play

The game plays out on 5-reels, 3-rows which are set is a beautifully designed structure constructed in wood. There are 25 fixed pay lines to land wins on, and the wins are created when you land three or more of the same symbols next to each other starting with the reel on the left. Elemental Princess can be played on any device which is ideal if you want to play on the go, and the available bet range starts from a minimum of 30p per spin to a maximum of £150 per spin which is wide enough to attract new players, novices and hardened high rollers. The slot offers some solid statistics which include the return to player which stands at 96.46% which is above average, and the wins are also quite frequent. The official figures show that 34.21% of spins will pay out something to keep up the pace of things and confirms that the slot also has a medium volatility. Unfortunately, the potential is not the most inspiring element of the slot, but we will look at this more in depth below.

Symbols and Pay Table

Before we look at the big reveal, we will look at the pay table where you will find that there are 10 paying symbols and several special symbols. The pay symbols begin with the low paying symbols which are the usual playing card symbols 9 through to Ace and then there are the four high paying symbols which are represented as an earth, fire, water, and air styled. The value of the premium symbols is not too bad, with the upper levels bringing in a range of 6x to 40x your stake when you land five of a kind.

There are five separate wild symbols that will certainly help you to form winning combinations and although the wilds all have a different appearance they do more or less the same thing which is to substitute for the regular symbols and create winning combinations. The wilds are the highest paying symbols in this game and landing 5 on a line will reward you with 80x your stake. The most common is the standard wild, with the remaining four wilds appearing during the various features.

Special Features

This slot resembles Moon Princess from the developers at Play ‘n’ Go and this is not just the title either. Each of the princesses in Elemental Princess can modify their own reels when they are active in their own special way, and the four free spins features are created all around them, however I am pleased to say that there is nowhere near as much chaos in this slot as there is in Moon Princess.
When you are in the base game there are four types of Princess modifiers that can be awarded. The first of these is the Earth Princess Wild which turns all standard wilds into Earth Princess Wilds and any high paying symbols that sit next to an Earth Princess Wild will also be transformed into an Earth Princess Wild.

The second is the Water Princess Spin, and again all the standard wilds turn into Water Princess Wilds, and 2, 3, 5, or 10 of these symbols take up random positions on the reels. The Fire Princess Spins unsurprisingly change all the standard wilds into Fire Princess Wilds as well as multipliers of 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x are applied to any wins. Finally, if the Air Princess Spin is awarded, yet again all the standard wilds turn into change into Air Princess Wilds, and a floating mega wild appears over your reels and these can be up to 3x3 in size.

The next feature is the free games, and this can be activated in two separate ways. The first way is by landing three or more scatter symbols in view and the second is through the Lucky Feature Trigger and re-trigger. The latter can activate the free games feature from the base game or reactivate it if it is already active. Once the feature is active one of the four Princess features are selected. Each begins with 10 free spins and this can be retriggered when you land three or more scatters, or the lucky feature reactivate occurs.

Depending on the Princess feature is activated you will be rewarded as follows, the Earth Princess free spins use Spreading wilds, the wilds then morph into Earth Princess wilds which turn any high paying symbols into Earth Princess wilds too. The Water Princess free spins come complete with Held wilds, and any water princess wilds are locked and remain in position for the rest of the feature. The Fire Princess free spins uses the win multiplier and in this feature any Fire Princess wilds that are in view will increase the win multiplier by +1. Finally, the Air Princess free spins are accompanied by floating mega wilds, with the round starting with a 1x2 floating mega wild on the reels in a random place, them on each free spin it moves to a new position. Additionally, when an Air Princess wild appears, they are collected and when you collect 2, 5, or 9 the floating mega wilds increase into 2x2, 2x3, or 3x3 in size.

Princess Verdict

Although this slot has some cute elements, I would not class Elemental Princess as a thrilling or high powdered. Admittedly there is a steady rate of wins which may suit the casual players while they are waiting for the bigger wins to come in, but the real issue is that the wins are not that big. When the Princesses work their magic, the biggest win is 1,666x your stake, this is a great number if you get lucky however, more realistically you could land wins that range from 100x t0 500x your stake.

Even though there are four different free spin games, including one which is complete with an increasing win multiplier this is not a slot that offers high potential. Visually it really looks the part, and the four princesses may have what it takes to pull players into the Asian culture. The free slot is like a tea ceremony in Japan, in so much as it is ordered, precise, harmonious, and generally quite slow. This is all good if you are hoping to relax with a cup of green tea, however not the best for the hardcore gambles that are ready to cut a rug on the reels.
