Design and Symbols

As in the original version by Novomatic, the simple, colourful fruit machine visuals are found in this new updated version of Reel King Megaways. While the imagery is basic, the graphics are bright and do the job for this slot beautifully. The generic fruit machine-style soundtrack bumbling around in the background. Triggering the features of the slot gives you a mix of something that wouldn’t seem out of place in the court of Henry VIII.

As for the symbols themselves, we see cherries, plums and melons spinning on the reels with the A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 royals. It seems strange to have more lower paying symbols but hey, it is what it is. The most rewarding of the symbols is the sack of gold, which will pay the player 50 times the total stake when they manage to land a combination of 6 on a pay line.
The slot works fine on both desktop and tablet, fitting fine to a smaller screen, and while the mobile slot works adequately, but is definitely better experienced on a bigger scene, otherwise the reels are rather small.

Features

The original slot was rather straightforward where gameplay is concerned, but there is a lot more going on in this fun Megaways version.
Firstly we have the Cascading Reels feature, which sees players hitting cascades when they land a win. The winning symbols will be removed from the reels, and new symbol will land in place, giving players the chance to win bigger. The cascades keep on falling each time that a winner is landed. The feature gives the player the chance to win even bigger in a single spin.
The Reel King feature is the next, and this bonus feature can be activated by landing bonus and scatters. On each spin, a different number of reels, between 0 and 6, will light up and this begins at reel 1, accompanied by a ding. Each cascade will be followed by another reel lighting up and once all 6 reels are lit, you’ll unlock the Reel King Feature. Landing 1 or 2 more successive cascades and you will progress to either the Super King feature or the Mega King feature.

Between 1 and 6 different sets of mini reels will appear on the reels and they have a single pay line, and will be made up of blanks, or a combination of red, white, and blue 7 symbols, classics for the fruit machines. A combination of any of the 7 symbols will result in a win for the player and if you manage to get 3 red 7s, then you will be awarded with 10 times the stake. The lit reels will play here and if all three of the reels are lit, you will advance onto the Free Spins Trail; landing a spin that is losing and having less than 3 reels lit up, the King will disappear form the reels. If you get far enough along the Free Spin Trail, you’ll move on to the Free Spins feature.

Free Spins for the player

The Free Spins feature see the player given 8 to 15 free spins with 1-2 Reel Kings. The Super King feature has 2-3 Reel Kings and 8-20 free spins. Finally the Mega King feature has a minimum of 8 free spins with 3-6 Reel Kings; the free spins for this can reach 25 spins! Once you’ve activated one of these, there are expanding multipliers which increase with each cascade, as well as the lit reels.

There is a gamble feature in the free spins feature too, where you can gamble cash and free spins for more free spins.
Finally there is a Spin Chance feature which is automatically triggered if your stake is lower than the current stake you are playing at. You will spin a wheel and if you land on the green segment, you will be awarded one more spin, but if you land on the red, you will lose the rest of your balance. You can choose not to play.
