Overview of Vault of Fortune slot
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to channel your inner thief then Vault of Fortune from the developers at Yggdrasil Gaming is the right slot for you. If you feel like looting a warehouse that contains valuable objects and antiques from many cultures now is your chance. Apart from giving you the opportunity to become a kleptomaniac, Vault of Fortune also offers a progressive multiplier fans dream, and a mechanic which is available throughout the entire game play.
Although the visuals are not quite as striking as you would expect from Yggdrasil Gaming, they are extremely well crafted and expertly executed. This should not put you off as Vault of Fortune has an ethereal quality that is found in all slots from this developer. They have all also managed to capture the museum atmosphere and mystery ambient incredibly well.
Game Play & Bet Range
When it comes to gameplay Vault of Fortune plays out over a 5-reel 20 pay line grid which is represented in a misty room with expensive items laid against the wall, stacked on the shelves, and hidden away in drawers. The developer has paid attention to detail by included some interesting details such as the oil painting by Johannes Vermeer Girl with a Pearl earring set against the back wall. The scene is enticing if you use your imagination and really get into character as a master thief poised and ready to clean out the vault.
Vault of Fortune provides you with a solid return to player that stands at 96.2% and this is accompanied by a hit rate of 19.4% giving this slot a medium to high volatility. When it comes to choosing your bet, you can play for as little as 10p per spin up to a maximum of £100 per spin, making this game incredibly attractive to all manner of players. Once you have placed your bet you can begin looting through the Vault. To get your hands on any valuables you need to land three or more of the same symbols on one or more of your 20 pay lines. When you manage this the drop-down feature will literally burst into life, and you will experience a satisfying rush when the winning symbols are crushed to pieces to let new ones drop into their place.
The Drop own feature is what will provide you with multiple wins from a single spin, however, there is more. Each Dropdown that you land increases your win multiplier which starts at x1 by +1 with no limits. The next non-winning combination that you land will reset the multiplier back to x1. This provides a lot of fun in the base game but allows the bonuses to be even better then you could quite imagine.
When it comes to the symbols there are eight in total and these are divided into 4 lower paying and 4 higher paying. All the symbols appear to be expensive with the usual playing cards suits however they are all sporting expensive jewel encrusted necklaces. The higher valued symbols look even more priceless and include a pair of Ming Vases, porcelain cats, Faberge Eggs, and a red version of what looks remarkably like a hat that would be worn by the Queen of England.
Vault of Fortune Features
Considering the win multiplier is available in all phases of this slot the values are rather good. For example, landing five of the diamond symbols which are the lowest paying are worth 8x your stake whilst a line of crowns will reward you with 25x your stake. If you then factor in the bonus game, you will see exactly how rewarding this slot can be.
As well as the Dropdown feature that we have looked at above, there are a couple of useful old favourites that you can make use of, such as free spins and expanding wilds. You need to keep your eyes open for the standard wild symbol which is depicted with a pull lever and this can appear in any positions to substitute for any of your regular symbols and create a winning combination. When a wild is used to create a winning combination, the level then drops, and the wilds expand and become a stack of six vertical wilds crushing every other symbol on the reel. Theoretically the expanding wilds will provide you with a hit rate of 1 in 25.
No mystery vault would be complete without a Cryptex or two however if you land 3 or more the free spins are activated. Landing 3, 4, or 5 will reward you with 8, 12, or 20 free spins, respectively. Whatever level you were at when the wild multipliers activated the free spins is carried into the bonus game. What is more the multiplier value does not reset between the free spins and it can only increase, with no limits. The final plus for this game is that free spins can be reactivated using the exact same values as in the base game.
Vault of Fortune is a slot that does not need to or try to impress as every element has been seen before on many occasions but used in this combination Yggdrasil Gaming have created a dependable slot that hits all the right senses. It is not dazzling but it does not need to be as it most enjoyable to play and you will see that there is nothing missing.
This is possibly the most simple and straight forward games to come from Yggdrasil and the slot is far better for it and the use of the dropdown feature is genius. Admittedly the feature is not new or fancy but it is put to great use in this slot and if you are a fan of this type of slot mechanic you will want to play Vault of Fortune again and again.
The way in which the symbols are crushed is a nice touch albeit a minor one and is either executed on the falling symbols or demolishing the wild stacks you will get a real feeling of satisfaction. So, this may not be the most original slot but even though I have examined the whole game I genuinely cannot find a fault! All I can say is that this is a really solid slot that offers some uncomplicated and straight-up gaming which has polished features and a really decent potential in an unusual setting, it certainly ticked all the boxes for me.
