Introducing 24K Dragon slot

24K Dragon is the latest slot to be release by the gaming developers at Play’n’ Go, and although this slot may seem as though it is coming from an Asian theme, the slot is actually based on mythical creatures that you would find in movies or fantasy literature. The title of the slot has more to do with the potential wins that you could land, and it is certainly true, however, there is a lot more to this slot then you may first think.

Theme & Design

This slot is played out over a vibrant five reel set with 1,024 ways to win with the gaming action sitting within a large space which has colossal amounts of gold piled high around some stone pillars. There is a dramatic soundtrack which could be mistaken for a dragon flying over an area to spread terror amongst anyone who lives there.

Game Play & Symbols

24K Dragon can be played on all devices which is particularly useful if you are the type of gamer that likes to be able to play wherever and whenever you wish. When it comes to selecting your bet, the slot uses the standard range from a minimum of 20p per spin to a maximum of £100 per spin which appears to be the standard range for this developer. The return to player rating is above average at 96.20%, however, you should always check this before playing as it could be lower dependant on the operators’ settings. Slots from Play’n’ Go have a tendency to be on the higher side volatility wise but considering the enormous winnings that are on offer it is completely understanding why things are set so high.

When it comes to the symbols used in this slot each of them can land stacked, and you can expect to come across 5 lower paying symbols made up from the playing cards 10 through to Ace, and these symbols would not look out of place in a heavy metal slot thanks to the design. These are followed by some mid-range symbols which are worth between 2x and 2.5x the stake, and consist of a lion, a pair of cross swords, and a green gem. Finally, there are two Dragons one silver and one gold, and they will both reward you with five times your bet for landing 5 of the same on a row.

The treasure chest wild can assist with both the value and win frequency although it will only appear on your second, third, or fourth reels. The wild can substitute for any of the regular symbols to complete a winning combination, and it can also up the value of any wins in the base game by revealing a x2 or x4 multiplier.

When it comes to the features there are two extras these being a respin feature and the expanding reel's free spin game, which I must say is certainly the showpiece in this slot. Whilst both features have been used in other Play’n’ Go games they have been improved since their previous outings and can be hugely effective if you manage to catch the Dragons in the right frame of mind!
You can land a Golden dragon symbol at any time in the base game and doing so will award you with a 24K Dragon re-spin. In this re-spin between 1 - 4 extra rows can be added at random to your grid.

These rows have three symbols each and sit above your middle rows on the game screen, you then have a single spin with the extra rows as well as benefitting from extra ways to win.
The next feature is the bonus game, and this is activated when you land 3, 4, or 5 of the diamond scatters and when you do you will be rewarded with 8, 15, or 20 free spins respectively. As in the base game, the free spins will start on the standard 5X3, with 1,024 ways to win. When the gold dragon symbol lands they will not activate free spin as they collect them instead. You will see to the left of the screen there is a meter which tracks your progress as you play. When you have accumulated a certain number of dragon symbols, extra rows are added above your main reels in the same way as they are in the re-spins, except these will remain in play for the entire duration of the feature.

With this collections system if you collect three Dragons and unlock row number one the ways you can win are increased to 2,000. If you collect seven Dragons and unlock row number 2 your winning ways will increase to 3,456. Collecting eleven Dragons and unlocking row number 3 will see your wins increase to 5,488 and finally collecting fifteen Dragons will unlock row number 4 and increase your winning ways to 8,192.

In the free spins the treasure chest wild's will always come with an attached multiplier. If you land more than one wild in a win the values will be multiplied together up to a maximum of x64. During the free spin feature, you will be rewarded with 5, 8, 15 or 20 more spins each time you land 2, 3, 4, or 5 scatters in view on your reels. The best bit though is that there are no limits on how many free spins you can collect this way.

Final Thoughts

If you were to take the creatures from Dragon Maiden and give them the style used in Testament and the expanding reels capability in both of these slots then mix them up you would have an idea of what 24K Dragon is really about. There are a vast number of slots that use winged beasts however in my opinion this slot will certainly satisfy a wide audience not only those fantasy fans. 24K Dragon offers a high standard of graphics and a stirring soundtrack making this another exciting and striking slot from the developers at Play ‘n’ GO.

Whilst 24K Dragon may not be totally original in terms of gameplay, overall, the gaming experience still feels fresh as does the action. There have been a few alterations to the features which certainly makes this slot stand out as well as the higher the normal potential for winning. Finally, I think 24K Dragon is great for a few spins and due to the larger wins on offer I believe regular players will still feel satisfied by the game as well the particularly big win chases. I enjoyed the slot immensely and would have no hesitation to rate it as a solid 8/10.
